is this right? carbon canister hose..

A friend of mine is fixing his GTiR and finds a hose hanging about the passenger wheel arch. He calls me up to see where it fits to but when I look at mine its exactly the same. Now I'm not a big believer in engineering by comparison I I thought I would get some good gen from the forum.

It appears to be coming from the carbon canister.

I think it's actually meant to be connected to something along the bottom of the engine bay, but all it's doing is venting under the car. - Mine doesn't hang down like that, but I couldn't really tell you where it actually goes.
