That'd be because there's not nearly as much to it as the Nismo unit. - I'm not saying it's no good, but it's not the same as a true mechanical LSD; I think someone (probably Danny) said it's better for use on the road, but not on the track or a low-friction surface.

Jonathan, have you been living in a cave, these have been used in the pulsar with success for ages, Ivan was using one back in 2002/3, Rob had one in his car back in 2009 to name but a few.

If you search for phantom grip the forum is full of it..............

yes and i fitted one too, they were the special order 1000bhp one's with the stronger springs...........they do work to a degree.

Is there a "true" LSD that they are similar to; for example do they behave more like a torsen dif because of they way they apply pressure to the gears?

They work like a mechanical diff without the torque sensing. So they are preloaded like a mechanical, but only limit slip, like a viscous.
