turbo recon

Anybody know any decnt place that can recon my turbo for me? Got a quote of turborebuild.com and they said between 250-350 depending what needs replaceing as on my old turbo it needs a new shaft as the properor (inlet side) has been in contact with the houseing.... Does that seem resonable? Includes all the seals and bearings and balancing.....
Cheers chris

Whenever anyone posts up the estimated and actual bill, there always seems to be a big difference in the 2 as reconners seem to quote a best case scenario then sting you with a bill once its done.Just make sure you ask for a worst case scenario as you might be better just buying a new or known good turbo off here.

I'd have to agree with that. - I don't have any experience of this myself, but it does seem like everyone gets a cheap quote... but it costs them more once the turbo is in bits and they can see which ones need replacing.

I believe there are some savings to be made with third-party bearings, but it's not a simple task so as a result it costs.

"*Aslong as the housings and actuator ok then wont be over 350.00* We inspect first and confirm price before undertaking any chargable work" thats what they said seems alright i asked worse case secario would it cost more than the 250-350

Have you checked the housing as most exhaust housings are cracked !!! will that bump up the price

Yes mate theres some small marks where its been touching the proplor (inlet side) and you can see on the old turbo where little 'file' size metal flakes are coming off the propellor

Not even worth a re-con mate. Compressor damage is quite severe so has probably done the housing in, and the waste gate is cracked = new housing again and that turbine wheel looks rough. New turbo.
