Rear driver side caliper

I'm after a driver side rear calipee in good working order.

Can you let me know what you've got with a price delivered please.

Is the calliper body damaged? You might be better trying to rebuild it. - I asked Boby for exactly this part about a week ago, and he was out; a reconditioned one seems to be ~£104 plus the exchange/deposit. For £19.90 you can get a new piston, and ~£30 gets all the seals for the axle delivered from Bigg Red (so about £70 means you've got all the parts to do both sides for less than a single caliper).

...of course you need to order the right one. A 30mm seal kit won't fit a 34mm piston. :doh:

The part number I had for the rear-caliper seal kit is BR203010 (available from Bigg Red at www.biggred.co.uk), but it might be a good idea to wait on George confirming this as he has ordered a rear-axle set very recently.

Yeah... Tony kept saying "you want BR203410", and I replied "that's for a GTi isn't it?"
Once he'd sent it he then pointed-out that the 34 bit refers to it being 34mm, whereas the one I'd ordered (BR203010) is for a 30mm piston. - So back it went, but the new piston seems to be doing the job at the moment with the existing seals; I guess I'll see what the tester says.

The part numbers Bigg Red tell me you need for a rear caliper are:
Piston BRP233416 @£19.90 delivered (x2 if you want to do the entire axle
Seal kit BRK203410 @£26.90 for the entire axle... obviously I haven't tested if this is right yet, but the parts in the 30mm kit looked right (even if the piston seals were too small).

Damn it! I've just been out to the garage and the seal kit I have is 203010 :doh: I will call Bigg Red on Monday morning and see if I can exchange this kit for the proper 203410 seal kit.

From looking at the specs (http://www.gtirworkshopmanual.com/default.aspx?v=1865), it appears the GTi and GTiR kits should be interchangeable since the rear calipers are identical. It seems that the 1.6 litre N14 models have the 30mm pistons. I'm surprised Bigg Red weren't more accurate with their kit recommendation.

Tony was pretty good when I emailed him; I'm pretty sure he'll sort you out with the right one. - I think you're right; the calliper is physically different, but as they've both got a 34mm piston the seal kit is the same.
