Hi,

Went to look at a cheap gtir.. i had one before for years. Mechanically its ok but what im wondering is how hard would it be to fix/weld the rust ... theres..

1.holes/rust (about 2") on both floor sides roughly where your feet would sit (where floor starts to curve up towards engine)
2.Theres rust that runs along a decent proportion of join/lip of outer sill with floor....the actually lip is rotted away in parts so there is no lip hehe. passenger sill itself seem to have smallish hole in (god knows what its like when side skirt removed)
3. a hole/rot at base of rear quarter join seam when you open door.
4. Rust/ holes around mudflap area - doesnt seem serious really

Does this sound like a basket case ? or if fixable what would you reckon to sort it ? Has anybody fixed something like this before ?

Thanks.

I guarantee that once you get the sideskirt off and start cutting out all the rust it'll turn into at least 2-3 times the amount of work you first though so unless you can do all the work yourself don't bother ;-)

I've seen it on my car, the water gets inside the sill and rusts it from the inside out. I only repaired mine as i could do some of it myself and had a mate that does a lot of bodywork/welding.
