Engine number

Hi guys
Does anyone know, if i was to give nissan my chassis number, would there systems tell me my engine number? As i need to prove my engines come out of a H reg car for my mot, as its now in a later shell. Ive looked on the log book and its not on there. I will pop over to nissan at weekend but thought someone might know?

Is this for the emissions?Think it was Aug 92 on that had to have a cat.You could always make an air leak on the vacuum off the brake servo-the one with thick black rubber pipes coming off green metal ones to the engine.That will lean the mixture right off to practicly zero CO readings and same for hydrocarbons.Just remember to put it back on after.
The engines are all just 54c AFAIK.

Yeh it is. If i could prove it was out of my old car i would be larfing. Have you tried and tested this then?

There have been in the past a number of mot examiners on here and it always ends up with them saying its an import and not eu type approved vehicle ! there for does not need a cat . maybe you should take it some where else .

The thing is its the company i work for who do the mot as its normally easier and cheaper and there may be some smaller items i need the tester to turn a blind eye too. I have read on here that people just say its an import and itll go through but ive read the manual and all i can see regarding imports is that the manufacturer needs to state the car cant meet uk emmisions for it to go through on a higher limit.

My Mot said Co has to be bellow 3.5 on my Pulsar...

Bingo! If they can find it in the list of official figures, they can test it against that. If it's not there, then it's a basic "no cat" test. - That's what I was told last time.
My experience is also that a cheap MOT costs you more in all the things they say need to be fixed. Pay an extra £10, and suddenly the wiper blades don't need to be replaced (at a cost of £25).

Back to the original topic; you probably won't find the engine number that way. Mine just has SR20 then a blank space for the number to be stamped in, so that's all it says on my V5.

Well thanks for the info. I will have a word woth the tester to see if its listed in there data. Its only cheap cos i get staff discount But the tester gets funny when hes got to start searching through his rule book on a test, hence why i wanted to state the rules to him.

I used to have one of those ecutek valve things when I 1st had the car.It fit onto this pipe and when you opened it up the emissions plummeted to virtually nothing.Thats about all it was good for.
Alternative is accidentally have the exhaust probe up some other cars pipe.

My engine number is on the block next to the clutch slave cylinder
