what power should my gtir be making? should i remap?

Hi, my gtir has the following mods.

Standard engine and internals
Uprated flywheel (Norris designs lightweight)
uprated clutch (helix organic)
decat mongoose exhaust turbo back
315mm high spec brakes
Forge FMIC
Adjustable actuator (forge) apparently running 1 bar though shows only .7 on the guage so not sure.
13 row oil cooler
Uprated spark plugs NGK Iridium 8s
high flow BMC Panel filter in standard air box
16in wheels

What power should this be putting out? would it benefit from a remap with Fusion Edd. What will he be able to gain from the car? I find the power a little laggy, probably due to the FMIC and its a bit slow to pick up. hard to describe but not what i would call urgent always. Though i know its running perfect mechanically.

If it's only running 0.7bar it's probably close to standard power (considering the age of the engine) give or take 10-20bhp. With a remap you'll probably see around 330bhp.

as above. boost controller to up the boost to whatever you want and you could see up to 350bhp. plus the remap will give alot better fuel economy and alot let lag. well worth the money, your mad if you dont do it!

It'll probably be making about 270-280 bhp if it is running 1 bar boost and less if it's still running 0.7 bar. I suspect it's still on the standard ECU, so going to see Ed for a nistune board fitting and mapping session would be a good idea but it'll cost you about £400 so it all depends on if you consider that money well spent. Ed will probably be able to wring a bit more power out of it but I don't know if that's what you're after.

As others have said your more than likely running about stock power right now if its registering 0.7 bar of boost, so the FMIC is pretty pointless at that power and is probably having a negative effect on response with the longer pipe run.

I would expect to see around 320-330bhp with a remap, but then you are going to open another can of worms potentially. The higher the boost and subsequently power the more stress the cars mechanicals will be under. No matter how well looked after there is no gaurantee with what would be a 33% power increase things wont go wrong. Just because your car "can" achieve those power figures doesnt mean you should go for them as rather than something reliable which you appear to have currently you could go down the route of unreliability. Do you really need more power and can you afford more power, if yes then go for it as it will be great fun but expect the bills to get bigger and more frequent!

From Ed's reputation, he'll do a spot on job, just don't waste your time with guessing bhp figures, it means nothing.

Get it mapped for what you want and drive it!

injectors normally run out of headroom at 320 ish, get some 550cc from an evo before you map it........and a decent new fuel pump.

And before you do all this, put some decent brakes on the R. No use having all the giddy-up without the "Whoa".

its within easy reach, std car running at 1.3 bar will achieve 330bhp. you will need a couple of bits, colder plugs, uprated fuel pump and a little map or a daughterboard. you could get an old school safc and do it on the cheap but you should get it set up properly and def checked for fuelling issues

Ok so 550cc injectors, colder plugs, and Z32 maf. If these are fitted will the car still drive to fusion for mapping (200 miles) or am I better letting them supply and fit when I'm there?

How much will this all cost? Won't 330bhp be too much for standard internals?

No mate a standard engine will run 330bhp all day long. Don't forget a Walbro 255.

Just bring it along to the NW rolling road day on 28th May and then you'll know. Simples!

Don't buy, fit or do anything until you know what your car is doing today. I can always bring my timing gun to check your ignition. The dyno will confirm your fuelling, boost and power. The plot will tell us the rest.
