vacuum hoses....just buy a good length of it from a hose supplier

replace starter brushes and clean/regrease the rest of the starter.

clean out the clutch master cyl (it's always full of crap)

Check front brake pipes for corrosion....with the engine out it's dead easy to swap them.

You'll be lucky (or have to be rich) to get a good R32 in ten years time!

Other car to think of:-

Rage Buggy

Caterham super 7 (with a modern engine like a all steel high revving Z-tec)

Westfield (hayabusa turbo lump!)

Golf 4-motion (with turbo or super charger kit fitted)

skoda octavia 4x4 1.8 turbo (Audi tt with a wig on,silly cheap and easy to tune)

Audi s3 (becoming cheap to buy and tune)

Need anymore idea's?

Engine mounts might be a good idea. My engine shifted a fair bit on track and when I removed the OE mounts they looked in servicable condition and were not perished or cracked. I changed them for solid mounds and it's made a big difference although the increased vibration inside the car is very noticable. Difficult to see out the rear view mirror at idle... lol. Given that, solid mounts might be a bit severe for a road car. Maybe fit a wideband A/F probe (at least 16" from manifold) and guage while the exhaust is disconnected. Great diagnostic tool and most good EMU's can take the output to monitor and self learn fueling.

If you swap to solid engine mounts it will probably pop the spot welds on your roof skin and rattle like mad.I had already stripped the interior out of mine so before I put it back in I used silicon sealant on the ribs that the skin rests on and it doesn't rattle any more.
I got my poly steering rack bushes from Ashills I think ages back. They don't cost much really.

just fill the standard engine mounts with tiger seal imo.

can you get uprated rack bushes from anywhere?

no not tiger seal thats way too expensive for that:shock:

use the £1 silicone from the poundshop, and yes as marc just said its a good cheap mod but still allows some flexibility

where would i be able to source the bushes from for the steering rack?
I have no clue mate.... I did a quick google when I read you can get them from "anywhere" but did not find after 10 mins so gave up.
As far as upgrades go, that's not very essential but it should be fairly inexpensive and worth doing if your OE bushes show signs of ware.
