Fuel tank!

What would the weight of the standard fuel tank, pipes and brackets etc be?

Was thinking in removing the standard tank etc and cutting the rear floor and make a new alloy box for a small fuel tank and swirl pot etc?
It would need to be boxed in for msa rules!

Is it worth it?

I had just over 1/4 tank of fuel at the weekend and had to add 20 ltrs to stop fuel surge!

I'm not too sure what the weight saving would be, but nothing beats a dedicated tank and swirl-pot configuration for racing. It would be particularly useful for sprints when you only need a small amount of fuel in the tank.

Go for the alloy tank and swirl pot. I guarantee you'll not be disappointed!

I am currently putting this type of system into my track-based Pulsar, but a friend of mine has an alloy-tank/swirl-pot setup in his rally-spec GTiR. The difference it makes when low on fuel is amazing. In fact, seeing his "in action" was what made me start building my own!

by the time you fit a new fuel cell and box it all in, you wont save any weight but you'll be moving the centre of gravity higher and out past the rear axle.

Does the pump in that 650cc swirltank have limitations on the size of injectors it can easily feed? Or will it be happy feeding 1000cc's?

the collector doesnt come with a pump so you can fit your own, size will be the deciding factor, but odins car originally ran a walbro pump before he upgraded to a cusco iirc
