It's game over

After a month of ups and down, i've finally thrown in the towel, strapped the R888's to my MX5 and will be taking that to the Nurburgring this weekend.

For whatever reason I can't get the crank seal to seal. Once i return from Germany i'll be having the car trailered somewhere so someone with a bit more knowledge can sort it for me.

I'll be tooling around in this now:

I'm pretty gutted not to be taking the 'R, but I have another 2 trips at least planned for this year, so will get over in it sooner or later.

Sorry to hear this Tim. Been thinking of swapping my track clio for a pulsar, but did mallory on sun and got speaking to some nice guys with a pulsar which spent most of its time getting black flagged for spewing oil! The clios not as fast but least its 100% reliable (for now).

mine has been fine for years, just idle thumbs caused problems, cant just say that every pulsar will be a oil spewing unreliable thing, I thought the olny reliable thing about a clio was that it was going to break

sorry to hear that Tim been reading your posts through the months and been a right old game  nice to see you dont give up :-D

The problems with mine are through no fault of the cars, I made daft mistakes when trying to fix it.

Will regroup when i'm back from Germany next week and see about fixing it, be nice to have Bob back as well so i can bug him for advice

I'm over at the 'ring for the may bank holiday, then a week in August as i'm competing in the 24hr cycle race around there.

Yeah it was only the oil cooler which was the problem, so they took it off and connected the two pipes together but it was still pissing out. What I meant really is that theres less to wrong with the clio, not that it won't go wrong! I will have another pulsar but for a road car when funds allow.

Nice to see you're keeping the faith with the pulsar Tim

They should have just removed the sandwich place, dummies

Anyway, the pulsar will prevail ... it's bloody quick around a race track!

Is the mx5 a 1.6 or a 1.8 mate?

It'll be alright on the R888's, speed wise up Kesselchen and down the dottinger hohe will be SLOW, and as there are a number of GT2's, Race R8's and a Ferrari 599xx signed onto the same trackday i'm going to have to keep a very close eye in my mirrors.

I've been told i should keep it nailed everywhere, videos of laps and supercars screaming past will be posted when i get back. Just a real shame it's not in the 'R as I would have had lots of fun hassling the more exoctic stuff around there.

Ahh well, roll with the punches!

Mate dont worry how fast/slow your car is you are more than likely going to dick on afew of the faster cars (because they dont know how to drive them:doh:) the mx5 is a good little car and glues to the road well i got some good lap times out of mine when i was there a few years back:-D

I'll be firmly affixing a novice sticker to the back of my MX5 and hoping to tootle past a few of the "quicker" cars..

Chris Harris will be over as well, so that will be good.

Back from an amazing few days!

From passenger rides in lotus 2 elevens, awesome weather, Ferrari 599xx's and an empty Nordeschleife to practice lines it was epic! Can't wait to get back out there at the end of May!

I'll be writing a trip report a bit like my last one over the weekend http://rnn14.wordpress.com/

I have some videos of me lapping, not quick but my lines seem pretty good so pleased with that will post them as part of the blog.
