That's because it's come off the ultra-rare Dakar sunroof model....;-)

I don't understand it either; I think I could probably get one from Nissan new for less than that (although I've never tried).

I don't mean to be a terrible pedant, but it's just a "P" for Pulsar like the "S" for Skyline and the other "S" for Silvia - Nissan acquired Prince long before the Pulsar... and it was never one of their lines anyway.

I know it doesn't make any difference to the price of the badge...

Yes.... well fairly sure anyway.
They merged with Nissan in 1966, and Nissan already had the Sunny at that stage. - The car they were working on became the Cherry... which admittedly is the foundation of the Pulsar, but it never claimed to be anything other than Nissan.

Ironically, the Skyline was one of theirs and that doesn't have a "P" badge on it... it has an "S" for Skyline.

The Prince emblem does look similar, but it's not the same.
