Oil Catch tank

Evening all,

Has anybody bought one of these of ebay?

Just wanted to know its worth getting one?

Looking to dress the engine bay up a bit, dropping the engine after the NW rolling road so looking to fit a oil cooler etc

For 20quid more you could get a Cusco one that's free p&p frome ebay!

For £20 less you can use a biscuit tin.

It's a metal pot to catch oil in; if you're buying it to make the engine bay look pretty then go ahead, but there's no real advantage of one over the other. If it was me, I'd be looking for a replacement oil/mist separator (which I think Forge do) so the oil goes back into the sump and the vapour is vented. - That's mainly because I don't see the value in collecting the oil in a can... other than to see how much is getting blown-by. I'd rather keep it in my engine where it's working.

Sorry, I sound a bit grumpy this morning... but I hope you can still see what I'm saying.

EDIT: I never said the Forge part was cheap... maybe this is why people just fit the catch can instead.

Or you could buy a new one from Nissan or clean out the original one strip the paint off it and polish it

Yours is the one I saw the Forge seperator on, I'm sure!

You're quite right though; next oil change I'll take mine off, degrease it, maybe even repaint it, and put it back.
I might consider putting a breather on it, but I'm happy enough to let the fumes go back through the turbo for now... I figure it lubricates the journal bearing from both sides then.

Oh - that's a very good point; stops the can filling up too quickly!
