complaint noted* i (I) just hope you dont (don't) read the rest of this thread with all the miss spelt words and grammer (grammar) you might just explode

I can play this game too! ;-):p

Don't take it personally, there's nothing wrong with trying to maintain the standard of language used; it's all about making yourself understood in a coherent fashion.

Bloody drag racing ... what a boring waste of time for cars built for blasting around forests!

Yeah, but blasting around forests does more damage to an ageing chassis than a drag strip does...
Still, I'd rather watch the rally if I had the choice.

Horses for courses !!!! Apart for the initial launching dragging is a lot kinder to your car than tracking it. Personnally i get a good buzz out of being able to give it full beans without risking my licence and spank some other cars that think they are far quicker then out little shitboxes.

I'm thinking of a friend of mine who co-drives an Escort cossie.
They took it on one forrest rally and completely knackered it; bent wishbones, damaged intercooler, ECU problem, body damage, shocks damaged, rims damaged... if they'd stuck to bitumen it would probably still be driving. As it is, I think it's going on a flatbed to M-Sports for repairs.

You missed my point, i'm not saying we should all be stageing our cars, but to own them to drive quickly in a straight line is an utter waste imho..

just to prove that your faster and to have crowd watch you humilate skylines, porsche gr rs, yanks ect ect. to have a fast car and never dirve the thing flat out is pointless to me

Drive it quickly around corners, it is a lot more rewarding than blasting through 4 gears for 13 seconds or whatever. It takes very little skill or practice to do that, learning a track and your car whilst chasing down more exotic metal is a lot more rewarding.

I couldn't agree more 8)

that is a common thought but just as drag racers are useless on corners twisty boys are useless at drag racing there is a lot of skill and precision in drag racing for
example a poo who runs 13s seconds in a car but the same car with a skilled driver could push it to 12secs or even 11s

there is a driver on the modders forum who started running 13s then though the season learning about his 60fts and ended the season running 11s.

you circuits people could learn a lot from a season's dragracing

not only that but you are less likely to have a car go in to you or come of the track in to a barrer

i know a couple people that wont go on the drag strip as its too much competition. in the track they are full of excuses if a 'slower' car is quicker. but on the drag strip there isnt any excuse, + you have a big crowd watching you.

Rubbish  I'm mainly a trackday person but i've been to a couple drag events and getting a gti-r to do a good 60ft time (which i would say was around 1.7 secs) is a piece of piss and requires hardly any skill ;-)

6000 rpm on the line, let the clutch up when the light changes, then a few quick gearchanges later its all over  Wheres the skill in that

I agree with markturbo,Drag racing's only about skill when you are going silly quick and it bugger's 4x4 cars transmission's anyway (with these type of car's) proper drag racing also uses reaction time ...
