Primera 2ltr brakes

anyone fitted these to a pulsar? measured them up against another sunny in the scrap yard yesterday and it looks like they would fint. so got the front setup for £20, 280mm discs on them so could be a cheap upgrade aslong as they fit ok.

i'll trial fit them later on today. the actual caliper looks the same as the pulsar 1, it looks like the carrier is the only difference to move it out from the hub a bit further. disc is same offset aswell just a larger diameter.

its nearly 30mm bigger disc than the standard pulsar, will be pretty much same as fitting the 280mm 172 discs and evo calipers.

Bigger discs dont mean better braking, just better cooling as your spreading the friction over a larger area. So all this prevents is brake fade.

To get better braking you need better calipers, ie more pots.

You can use Almera hubs N15 and stub axles with z32 4 pots and disc you will need adjustable length track rod ends and have to re-drill the discs and hubs and take 4mm off the disc diameter cheaper than a lot of conversions and easier than making brackets.

Not entirely true; think about the moment (i.e. the force applied on the disc by the calliper to the centre point). It's like a lever; the further away you have it from that centre point, the more force can be put on it (a higher moment)... so better braking.

Where this theory falls down is that a calliper designed for a smaller disc may not be able to hold the extra force of a larger disc (and that's when you really need more pots).

from experiance bigger discs give me better braking. more pots just applies the fore more equal across the pad. most 4 pots are also alot lighter than cast iron single pots so give a lower unsprung mass.

will prob go for some 4 pots, just thought id try these as they were cheap.

why do you need to redrill hub? can you not just redrill disc to suit hub stud pattern?
