After thinking long and hard, it's time to sell my R.
I have had it for quite some time (Since Feb 06) and not all has been good. Much blood, sweat & tears (& cash!) have gone into it and it needs someone willing to put a bit of cash into it to make it what it deserves to be.
It’s a H Reg with 90k miles on it (Unknown amount in KM). Around 7k since rebuild.
Has MOT until October 2010
Taxed until the end of Feb 2010
It was last dyno’d at The Racing Line in Halifax 2 months ago and made 323BHP with 330 ft/lbs of Torque at 1.2 bar on standard turbo. This was the same time I had the Haltech e8 fully mapped. It had previously made a questionable 350 BHP at the North West RR day 2008 for which I also have the print outs.
The full spec is…….
Haltech E8 ECU – Really good piece of kit, feature packed, Cost over £1500 to have one fitted and mapped.
Haltech GTiR Patch loom
Haltech 3 bar MAP sensor
Gizzmo IBC adjustable boost controller – Instead of the Haltech solenoid
86.5mm Wossner Forged pistons
Lightened & Polished Crank
HKS 1.2mm Metal Head Gasket
550cc Injectors (SARD Purple)
Garrett T28 rebuilt by AET Turbo’s – (This is knackered and has been removed from the car)
Forge FMIC with custom pipe run (Short & direct pipe run)
3” custom elbow/downpipe by The Racing Line
2.5” Full stainless exhaust by Custom Pipes
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Blitz induction with custom alloy/samco pipe run
HKS SSQV
Helix organic Clutch
Oil Catch Can
A/C removed
Battery relocated to boot in Rally Designs box with proper fuses etc.
Uprated energy suspension poly shifter bush
Uprated poly stabiliser links
Clutch support bracket
Speed delimited
MPH Conversion
Turbo Timer (Not connected)
Grooved & vented disc’s
Greenstuff pads
Lowered 40mm All round
17” White Buddy club wheels
Momo Steering Wheel
Tinted Rear windows
The amount of money I have spent over the years makes me want to cry! Hundreds of £’s spent at Nissan…..
New Master & Slave clutch cylinders
New Knock sensor
New Lambda Sensor
Door rubbers
Oil Pump
Nuts bolts, covers, gaskets, seals etc
Thousands spent on aftermarket parts and full bottom end rebuild.
££££’s of receipts.
££££’s spent on tuning
It’s been fully mapped by Matt at the Racing Line.
Rebuild was done by Andrew Speck. Friend of mine who is a really good engine builder. He is builder/owner of the fastest Tigra in the world who ran 11.27 to win TOTB 2009 FWD class with top speed run of 166MPH so knows his stuff.
The Haltech really is a fantastic piece of kit and is full of features like launch control and anti-lag as well as 32 x 32 mapping. If you’re a techie person you can even download the software free of charge from the Haltech website. The car will come with the correct cables to connect your laptop to the ecu.
Now for the bad bits…….
Not a great paint job done in the past so could do with a blow over.
Rear bumper is Black as I had to replace it when I had a slight bump from behind.
Turbo is dead and is currently removed from the car
Crunches into 5th gear unless you double clutch (Has been like this the whole time I have had the car – over 3 years).
It’s by no means the tidiest engine bay in the world but is more purpose over looks.
Has a slight power steering fluid leak. Car comes with both a replacement steering rack and new power steering pump – just in case!
All in all I will be very sad to see it go, but it really needs someone to put a bit of cash and some TLC into it to make a good 400 BHP machine. I simply don’t have any cash/time to put into as I’m planning on getting a new house early 2010.
Will make an excellent starting point for someone wanting to mod, or someone wanting a good donor to mod theirs with.
I was really hoping to have a new turbo on and at least make it to the 2010 anniversary meet but time is against me on that one. I’ll still be there if nothing else to watch – I hope my R will be there with a new owner.
It’s absolutely gutting to say but looking for offers around £3k.
I paid £4k for it and have spent well over £4k on it in parts and tuning over time so in reality it’s an absolute bargain for someone.
Had many a good time in the car (Was my daily driver for over 2 years).
Anyone wants any further info or to come view it, drop me a PM (I will be on my hols from 03.12.09 – 17.12.09 so will be a delay).
I’ll sort some pic’s out when I get back from my Hols
