a few problems help needed

hi ive just got my engine back in. Went to fill the gear box up with oil and the bolt has seized in there and rounded of am i fucked or is there another way?

Also is the transfer box and the gear box all filled up throw one hole?

And theres a sensor that bolts to the y bracket dose it have to be mounted there?

Hi mate.

The drain plug is quite common to seize up on these as mine did on the transfer box when I was reconditioning it. I ended up having to heat it with a blow torch til it was red hot and then remove it but otherwise chisel and hammer I'm afraid. When we rebuild TVR racks they rust and seize all the time and we have to go to the extent of blow torching them red hot followed by "Freeze Spray" which is commonly used for plumbing and can be purchased from a local DIY, Wicks, B&Q etc.. this helps to break it lose but I didn't have to do this to mine.

I think you might be able to buy them from Nissans..

They don't fill up together, gearbox and tranny fill up from seperate plugs unfortunately.. the tranny one I think is on top (just below the center of the steering rack) and the gearbox one I can't remember, I think it's by the nsf gearbox mount..

I can second the blow torch method; Geoff and I couldn't get mine to move, but a blast from his plumber's torch freed the plugs up just fine.

Yes, transfer case is a bit of a pain because it's round the back of the engine, and under the plenum... but it doesn't tend to weep.
The gearbox is on the front hidden behind the gearbox mount (it comes out and around the plug).

Is the sensor on your Y bracket actually the transistor thingy for the ignition circuit; a black unit with a Nissan symbol on it? You can bolt that on anywhere, but I'd keep it off anything hot; it's a common mod in Australia to put a heatsink on it.

i had a drain plug that was siezed, and rounded , i welded a nut onto it, and managed to remove it then , the heat from the welder should be eneough to free it ,

thanks for the reply i will try heating it up then! yeah it sounds like the transistor but mine has mitsurbishi writen on it

That's the puppy - made by mitsubishi, but it should also have the Nissan circle with a line through it.
Put it anywhere you want; you're just limited by the harness that connects it to the ignition circuit. Somewhere that it won't get hot is best, but in the UK it doesn't make too much difference.

that bracket is for the power transistor. What I did was grind the weld off from the bracket that the transistor fastens to so that it seperated itself from the other bracket going back to the tmic brace. I could then still use the original bolt holes for the power transistor bracket.

The sensor that has a ground wire (the wire comes from the tps sensor - the green one) I ended up fastening it to the closest valve cover nut.
