Almera GTiR Questions.. What Do You Know?

Hi Guys I know a lot of this has been covered in previous topics but some of them going back like 4 yrs now so I wanted to see what people have to say about it now, how have people progressed.

I'm breaking my R to make space for this project and keep any bits I might need along the way.

My questions are:

1. What's the easiest Almera to do this conversion to? I preferably want a 4-door.

2. Is it really a drop-in engine?, what about the mountings?

3. Wanting to keep it 4WD because I plan on running BIG power, will my 4WD system from the R fit straight in? - I haven't had the opportunity to work on a customers Almera to find out but a mate of mine who has one said he has floor plan already setup to take a prop..?

4. I'll be doing the conversion myself so will cut most of the costs out, however, the almera has air bags.. the R doesn't.. and I'm no electrician - is it possible to keep the airbags? (As the whole idea for me is to have the power of the R with the luxuries of the almera)

Thanks guys for anything you can add to this topic

Luxuries of an Almera
There are 4wd pulsars (HNN15) in Japan with the SR18DE engine, i'd imagine that would be a good car to start with 8)

you'd be better asking this question to the almera owners club, but as above there are n15 pulsars that are 4wd. they come in 1.5 aswell

think theyre called N15 LUCINO

theyre was one for sale not long ago on ebay and pistonheads for around £600, it was up here in scotland

the almeras are all fwd, 4wd is a nissan pulsar/lucino N15. these are jap imports but look alot like almeras

to convert a normal nissan almera to 4wd is major surgery. (and not worth it imho)

The easiest conversion to do is on the Almera GTi as it already has an SR20 lump in it & disc brakes all round.

There is no easy way to put on the 4wd system onto the car.

My mate is selling a big power one just now with fully forged engine, it is in the for sale section.

What problems could I / should I expect from doing a 4WD conversion. I am looking into importing the N15 pulsar as well now.

Depends how talented you are I'd say - people always say how much work it would be and serious surgery etc, but if you're happy to just chop a big fuck off hold down the middle of the car to take the prop, and fuck about inside with all the seats and mountings etc I don't see why its not do-able. Thats from a completely non mechanical person of course, but as had been covered before everythings do-able with the relevant level of time and effort.

Nissan Rasheen anyone? :)
Doesn't look like an Almera and may not be as luxurious. The entire GtiR drivetrain would slot right in, though, even the exhaust system will fit, and then, well, it's down to aerodynamics...
