Swap Shocks Left to Right?

As title, can you swap shocks left the right, I'm guessing not?

I've a big clonking noise from the rear of the car, especially from one corner.

I've looked endlessly at bushings but they look ok, as far as I can tell.

So it has to be the shocks giving up, they're GAB's. Want to diagnose before forking out on coilovers etc

If I get the shock out, how can I tell?

Tried bounce test but suspension is too stiff to get bouncing...!

:D Hi mate, unfortunatley not  The rears have a bracket on them that the anti roll bar is attatched to  so swapping them from side to side would put the bracket in the wrong position for you to re-attatch the anti roll bar.

Thought so.

ok, how about this, leave off the arb?! anything else that won't make it fit?

its really only to see if the noise comes from the shock or the side of the car somewhere. I can swap em back when done.

(am I being a bit mad)
