oil pump????

right then the engine is goin back together now and just wondered if the oil pump requires any kind of priming. didnt wanna build it up n then no pressure, cheers john

I've never seen anything about priming the oil pump :?

I had my oil pump off when i did my headgasket and timing chain. All i did was fill the engine back up with oil again and then started it up :wink:

I did keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge though to make sure it built up pressure fairly quickly.

I think most engine builders would remove the coil lead and turn it over a few times to prime the whole engine when newly rebuilt.

That's what we did to pre-charge the system with oil before we fired it up

Yep that's what I did to but I also removed the injector plugs so I didn't flood it.
