Well, I finally managed to teach the R the meaning of its existence. Had my first track day at Castle Combe yesterday, and loved every minute of it! Managed 5 sessions, but couldnt really do many more than that cos the R needed to chill out in between. :lol:
First session, first lap, I took it fairly easy, only overtaking the three cars in front of me
, seconf lap, pushed too hard into the chicane and spun! The upgraded front brakes are immense, but anything other than straight line braking makes the back end come past you! So, lesson learnt!
There was a wide range of cars there, quite a lot of caterhams, including a V8 :shock:, that was pretty quick on the straight, a few elises and an exige, and a few fully sponsored race prepped cars. There was even an M6 convertible (cooked brakes in first session :lol: ) and a volvo estate T5 auto :doh:.
Suffered fuel surge at just under half a tank, so had to fill up at lunch time. The toyos were good, but seem to have suffered from a bit of heat! :lol: Tried to kill it on the last run, so I had an excuse to put my new engine etc in, managed to get the oil temp off the gauge on the last run, must have been up around 160c :lol: , but it took it all in its stride, and ran beautifully.
Here's a few vids n photos of the day. If anyone wanted to know what a speed limiter sounds like when you hit it, this'll show you! :lol: Also, given the first corner is a 110mph to 45mph corner, I could only brake in a straight line, but it was so much faster than the elise in front of me!

My Fastest Lap - 1 min 27.2secs.
Top Speed - 112.7mph (limiter)
Average speed - 76.5mph
Fuel consumed - 63litres
Ave fuel economy - 11.3mpg
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself!
