How to set your TPS

do i need to cover the wire with electrical tape, after i pierce it to get the reading

Only if that makes you feel better. - I think I can get the probes of my multimeter into the back of the plug without piercing anything, so it might be worth trying to see if you can do that too.

one last thing, do i take the reading when the engine is running ? or do i just turn ignition so dash light come on

Could someone just re-breif this a little for me - as the picture from the first post has disappeared..

its pretty simple just stab the red multi meter wire through the middle wire on the TPS and stab the black wire through the earth wire. slacken the 2 bolts on the TPS, then turn the engine on. then move the TPS to adjust volt Reading when you have reading u want tighter the bolts back up

Lovely jubly, all done. I was reading 1.01v at closed throttle lol....

I did my test with the car stone cold and only ignition on - anyone know if that's ok?

Yes. As long as the ignition was on.
