How to Build a SR20DET Head

Ok, so it's not me that has done this but I came across this thread, which i thought was a really good walk-through of dismantling and building a SR20DET Head.

Thereare some differences in the GTIR head but the steps are the same, and many people can have use of it as it shows how to shim the rockers.

I bought this DVD a while ago and it's been very useful. Again, some differences for the GTiR, but in general very helpful!

Newb question but what are the differences with the 200sx Head and Pulsar One? I know the differences with the sr20de as I have an Almera GTi, but I always thought that the sr20det's were the same, just different mounts. Sorry probably a stupid question, but a lack of knowledge is a far worse crime.

The 200SX (S14 lowport head) has variable cam timing on the intake, while the GTIR (highport head) doesnt, but in advantage, ve have round combustion chambers (which reduces compression ratio in 0.2) and solid lifters with wilder cams as standard. Also, the shape of the ports are completely different, and it has a more direct flow to the combustion chamber.

There's a lot of differences with a S14 head, but what people say, is that the GTIR head is the best one of the SR range, apart from the SR20VE head.
