Well went to a private trackday today with friends, it was an open pit lane day so we had as many laps as we wanted and was populated with a various set of cars from Radicals and subarus running slicks that were proper carbon built track cars and Ariel atoms to trick mk1 escorts with hpe engines and proper built shells and guess what, the old nissan sunny was out all day flat out and matching them and beating better tackle , not one issue from the ol girl I have finally got the handling of the car right and basically once I had sorted the hot tyre pressures I spent from 9.30am to 4.30pm going round and round like a loon!

All I did was fill it with fuel....all 120 litres of the stuff and drive, I would like to thank ed at fusion for getting the mapping spot on and making a 540bhp gtir reliable and perfectly drivable, jim Campbell for spending so much time getting good base setting on the suspension to work from , and Andy at ht Howard's who does my machine work for the engines and gearboxes.

so if anyone says they are unreliable again well there wrong, 17,000 miles since I built the car and it has achieved every goal I have wanted and finally become a proper neutral drivers car that is devestatingly fast.

once my son has down loaded the pictures to the computer I will post them up.

What have you done with your cooling setup to handle that power on the track.
One of my under drive crank pulleys and water pump pulleys and a koyo rad, 93 degree water temp and 105-110 degree oil temp all day and a small oil cooler in the front brake duct, as said perfect no issues at all, except the fuel consumption ...lol

carbotech xp10 pads on bigger rear discs un grooved on the rear and 304 mm fronts with seat Ibiza Cupar r calipers on the front and had no brake fade either....those pads are the bollox!

Nice one Dan. I don't think I did much but I'm glad it helped. Looking forward to the photos!
jim, the castor mod that makes a differance and putting things in to terms people can understand with more ease.....makes a huge differance to struggling , camber settings that are giving me perfect even tyre temps and wear....you have taught more than you know I have just carried on and now have a good understanding to implement and the effects.

Well xp10 are awsome on the track but are a bit fierce on the road but xp8 are fine better for fast road...ther you go Scott development done for the gtir for you....will give you a bell this week mate too.

i think a standard brake set up on the gtir would hugely benefit from the pads being done to the point you would not need anything else on the road, bere in mind I was hammering the brakes from silly speed in 5th on the straight to 60 ish constantly with absolutely no issues at all o and mark turbo told me to try ATE superblue brake fluid and that never boiled either.

We use the superblue in Davie's car iirc, seems to be good stuff....
Aye the guys at Carbotech seemed to think a set of xp8's would be about right for a road pulsar too with nothing else....I had my doubts about that but as I haven't tried any Carbotech pads yet couldn't comment, I'm using megane 225 brembo's with 330x32mm discs so will be interesting to see what they are like with the xp10's in....

Glad to hear you had a good day and the car was faultless as usual 8)

You can't beat the carbotech pads and ATE fluid combination, the pads are a lot of money but worth every penny and the ATE fluid is only a few degrees off the wet boiling point of castrol srf but half the price

Cheers mark, always pays to take notice of local lads to the tracks too, the right advice is priceless in anything we do.
