Noticed my girlfriends Astra had been using loads of oil mayby over a litre per 1000 mile.

Anyone worked on these cars have any clues?

Its a 1.4 with 48000 on the clock and runs great. No oil leaks no blue smoke.

Heard its not uncommon for these to use oil, so I'm going to put a thinker oil in.

Just wondering if there is any underlying faults for heavy usage

you won't get blue smoke with pre cat and cat burning it, if it is a newage astra its probley bore glazed from modern fully synthetic oil and a pussy footed about car. fill it with oil and go and rag it to death.

It swallowed 1 litre of oil yesterday driving back from Liverpool 200 mile. Time for a trade in I think something's not right with the little fucker.

Think we're going to trade it in for a Subaru sti at some point this week.
