Advise needed...

Can you tell me if it's possible to change the bottom ball joint without having to replace the wishbone?...or does it come as one unit?

yes mate you can most parts shop will say the balljoint is not available you have to buy the whole wishbone,(not true) i managed to buy just a balljoint in the end for about 7 quid!
