    Any old guys still about

I still lurk occasionally. Still have my car, but have lost interest in it and would let it go now.

    Should know better......

I'd sell mine for the right money. 400bhp/350 lb ft on a gt3071 @1.4 bar, 700cc injectors and bosch/walbro pump and swirl pot setup, forged Tomei engine(cams, pistons, metal hg, rocker stoppers, valve springs and PAR steel rods Jun crank studs, polished and balanced crank), full 3" exhaust, z32...

    Winter tyres

And you mean fwd as if you reversed a rwd up the weight would transfer to the front axle and reduce grip ;).

    Winter tyres

Yeah have done that too Rob but a lot of places I was delivering were double parked residential areas and needed to be able to see as much as possible. I started keeping a shovel and a box of grit behind my seat for the really tricky bits.

    Winter tyres

Despite the old adage of sticking it in a high gear and letting the revs take it(true most of the time), sometimes this is the only way on a hill. It wrecks your tyres though as they overheat quickly.

    Winter tyres

I had winter tyres on my old Laguna a couple of winters back. Without them I couldn't get off the drive and am about as experienced at snow driving as you can get as used to drive a van in it all day when it fell. I either learned how to get up and down hills with shit commercial tyres on or...

    can't send messages

I've saved 6 messages and got unread messages going back years. Rather than breakthrough them all and delete I just opted to bin the lot. I couldn't select all and then delete, would've had to do tick all the boxes and it can be a pain on this talet.

    can't send messages

I was at my maximum message limit, so saved half a dozen to a new folder and deleted the rest. Now I still can't send messages as it says I'm still exceding my limit. How do I fix it?

FAO anyone with a GT series turbo without a metal bearing cage

A good flow of oil is going to help carry heat away when running so the turbo would be at a lower temp. A few extra ml of oil cooking in the pipes isn't going to do much. Totally agree about the use of inferior materials.

And I'm trying to get across that if ypuve got a poor oil return limiting flow it might be more like 600degrees

Mark, no-one is arguing that they shouldn't haveused a better material, but I am talking about prolonging what you have. People should be letting g their turbo cool down before turning their engines off anyway.

I know Danny but surely the cooler the oil and faster it flows through the turbo, the longer the plastic will last?

Yeah I've read before about the bronze cage but for people who've already fitted it, the cost of removing,, sending away to get it sorted, refitting again is hundreds of pounds. My point aboutthe oil return is to make sure as much heat as possible is taken away so wear isn't accelerated.

From what I remember the oil return is very short anyway and the gt3071 makes it even shorter and changes the angle to make it more likely to slightly kink. Not duress how braided lines would help there.

It may be people using the standard oil return which doesn't give the best angle with this turbo. To me that would restrict the flow so a new pipe should be supplied withtheturbo.
