Will a 200sx engine fit GTIR

looking to fit a 200sx engine into my gtir -

been told its a 2tr red top.

car is 1991 h reg.. i thought they had a sr18det engine? can anyone shed some light on this?

how would the owner be able to identify if it is a sr20 or sr18 engine ?

why would you want to put a s-body sr in to a R any ways ???????

In the 180sx sr20det power (uk s13 but only 20 had sr20 motors rest had that shit ca18det motor) cars they had red toped sr20det motors ,
then when the s14/a come out there was a black top sr20det motor same in the s15 .

In my eyes the SR that the r had was the best motor out for the lot.

uk s13 200sx had a ca18det, jap s13 180sx had both ca18det (early on) then a different form of the sr20det with no variable cam timing (black top i think) then went to the red top with cam timing.

200 or 180sx engines are not as strong as the R engine.

If its a ca18det it will have two seperate cam covers, one for each, sr20det has one single but the cam cover does differ from the R cam cover.
