Wheel width?

Hi There
I'm buying new wheels for my car but am getting mixed advice on the width of wheel i can put on without rubbing with 17's.
Was hoping that someone may be able to help?
I have 7" at the moment but not sure if i could get 7½" on?
Any advice appreciated, thanks!

If you are going for fat wheels, you have to consider the tyre width, coilovers since they give you more clearance, and how are you adjusting camber.

I am running 16X8 et35, and 225/45 tyres and they JUST clear from both sides. Adjusting camber with camber bolts do not help either since you are tilting the wheel closer to the coilovers. I am using a 3mm spacer at the back to be safe. I wish i could do one on the front but i am scared will rub from the outside. I also rolled my arches.

i also want to as a question, thinking of get a new setup of dragslicks fore my ride, and whant to know how big tyers i can use?'

i see that "Trip" using 16x8 and 225/45, but will it fit whit 225/50 and 16" rims?
