what size is your external wastegate?

and what boost are you running, also has any one welded up their 3071 to do an external wg?

I have tial 38mm with I/wastegate welded shut and braced shut using actuator rod and bracket braced it because cast is a bastard to weld and cracks very occasionly, PICS BELOW.

nice kit there MORF114 any reason why you have used a internal wastegated 3071?

Was supposed to be a quick turbo and injector change at weekend then ended up being a bigger job, i recieved the wrong turbo couldnt be arsed sending it back so decided to try and make it all fit. 2 weeks to go and shell be running again just waiting on parts now. always waiting for parts !!!! got innovate lc1 to fit with xd16 tommorow then just need a alt belt and smaller radiator. or try and bodge fit the old one !! w/g hits rad by about 1 inch :doh:

is 38mm a touch on the small side for a 3071??

so i got to basically do what youve done in pic no.1 with holding the wastegate shut? then i can pop on my extertnal w/g?- providing i ever find a manifold

38mm is ok to use on 3071 size depends on what boost you want to run and how big your turbo is. (and how much cash you have!!)

a 38mm waste gate is fine on most sizes of turbo as long as u run a fair amount of boost its when u want to run a big turbo at low boost u need a big wastegate to be able to get rid of lots of excess gases
