what are the symptoms for faulty maf censor

Lean running low power and inconsistent power delivery.

If the ecu detects a fault doesn't it go into safe mode and run a preset map with a 2400rpm limit or there abouts?

Running rich does seem to be the most common symptom.

Ed, when do they run lean as I've not heard anyone report that, that I can remember.

Had one on the dyno two weeks ago. It was running lean and inconstant, cleaned it no difference, ecu could not tell there was a problem. Changed it and it was fine.

An AFM could fail in any number of ways, but they rarely fail completely to put the car into limp mode, and often if they are covered in crap they are slow to respond and so you get a lean condition, as the hot wire is not being cooled correctly by the airflow.

I wouldn't however be surprised if some failed rich/lean/limp or not.
