vxr or st

not a pulsar question, more of a general opinion to help the misses out. she's currently got a saxo 1.1 but has put a lotta work into it (has to be admitted but hey) and now she's looking to either go for a new focus st or a astra vxr (did try'n mention the monaro but didnt work) but now one of her mate has mentioned putting a vts/gti lump in her car and a mate that's got his own garage has already said about turbo'n it for labour free.

what'd you all think she should do?

Hmmm easy really tell her to get rid of the saxo always will be a max power car, and get a cossie :twisted: if shes going the ford route not as new as the st but she get a tidy one and have a bit left for modifying,

a focus st(170) will be no faster or handle any better than a saxo vts - tried and tested 8) just as long as you can live with the boyracer 'brand name' - saying that the kids go for the vtr as they cant afford the insurance on the vts :lol:

astra VXR yerrrrrrrrr go for that - or even better vx220 turbo then stage 2 it - proper quick motor

VXR, vauxhall have always been the daddy of the uk hot hatches. They invented them with the chevette after all.

I'd say go for the vxr - they look mean and go pretty well.
At least u'll beat the golf gti's.

Ive got an Astra VXR as a comp. car.

In my opinion its a shed load better than the Focus ST - but - you do need the IDS (Interactive Driving System Plus) option to out handle the ST.

Also, I went for the following options:
- Leather Pack, - 19's, - IDS, - Climate Cont, Pearlescent Paint
and Vauxhall proceeded to knock £1,500 off the p11d which reduced the tax aswell

Nice motor, im off to Regal on the weekend for the 300bhp upgrade so it should pan the ST. Won't come anywhere close to my R though...

Imho and it seems every journo who's tested them, the ST (New one, not the ST170) is a far better buy both in terms of performance and handling. And.....well everything else apparently !

The VXR is floored in several ways most notably, not having the chassis to lay down it's 237 bhp ! Even on paper, it's only 0.3 seconds quicker to 60mph in a straight line, on a bone dry surface. Not that it means much. In real world terms, the ST is undoubtably quicker.

The ST handles extremely well, has a very nice interior and a much better looking exterior, as long as you go for the metallic blue You also get the full 236 ft/lbs of twist in the ST from just 1600 rpm :shock: So, you could be in any gear, hoof it and watch everyone disappear in the rear view mirror ! (Not quite everyone but, you get my drift). It's also cheaper than the VXR, well the best model, the ST2, is anyway !

And just to top it off, there are already rumours going round about a 300 bhp re-map, if you like going through front tyres like cadbury's cream eggs :twisted: :lol:

hmm cossie would be the best but the vxr and st are close im sure if you by a 2.5 turbo it could be tuned to a crazier level than a vxr?

its really upto her to decide what she wants!!!!

how bout she get a fiesta st and spend the money left on a R :roll: :roll:

lol we've both got saxo's at the moment, i got a vts that i've had for about 3 years, but i'm waiting on the right 'r' to come along, just biding ma time, so a don't want he to get an r aswell or ppl's goin to think we're doing a "his and hers" version or something lol

i quite like the vxr and i seen an st today and i'm not the biggest focus fan so dunno what she's goin to do, tried talkin to her about a cossie but she just aint havin it!

there's a few mitsi gto's and rx7's going but she aint havin that either, even tried a tommi makinnen evo, but she said no...i've given up lol
