VIN details / record

Hi guys,

I've been told that some member here have a VIN record of GTi-Rs. Maybe someone can help me.

There's this Gti-R, which according to the documents the year of manufacture is 1995 and the VIN / Chassis stamp (on bulkhead/firewall) number is FNN15****** (will post whole number via a message if necessary), AWD and an SR20DET engine. It is listed as a Nissan Pulsar Hatchback. Unfortunately the manufacturer's plate is missing. Now as far as I know, Gti-R stopped production in 1994 and the model falls under N14 series.

Cheers :)

I know the guys on GTiROZ have spent a lot of time compiling this information. - If you don't get a response on here, someone can ask for you on there.

Sorry I misread that; I thought that was the bit relating to it being a LHD sunny. - On the chassis code: EBYNR(FNN)15... but that's not right.

FNN15 does suggest it's an N15 Pulsar, and if it came with an SR20 I'd guess it's something like an SSS (from Australasia) or an Autech Lucino SR-V VZR (from Japan). - I'd guess the Lucino since I thought the SSS was a sedan only, and the Lucino is a 5-door hatchback.

...or maybe a conversion?

It's a Jap import .. but the body shape is that of an RNN14 .. like this one to make it clear: http://www.oocities.org/jdmusedcarsale/img/1991RNN1403_01.jpg

What about the GTiROZ group you mentioned? You think they can help?

I don't think it would take much effort to make an N15 Pulsar like this one look like a GTiR:

Three doors, a similar front bumper and spoiler.

and what about the rear-side windows .. and the interior haha ..
can you possibly ask those guys you mentioned on GTiROZ please? :)

Gtirs can't be imported into some countries. So at a pot guess, was the vin plate changed so when customs see it, it's down as a nissan pulsar non turbo (n15 which can be imported). Engine assecories removed and shipped in a separate container.
Then when it lands all put back together. Or in this case not put back.

Message me the plate vin, or send to me as a picture.

Okay, so based on the info you gave me yesterday, it looks like the paperwork has been fiddled with just to get this car imported.
It's showing as a PULSAR
FNN15 4WD GA15DE 1500 01.95- Or an FNN15 4WD SR20 SR-V.
These come in N/A non turbo form.

The engine number and vin number do not come up with anything that exists.

All I can suggest is you take pictures of the actual car when you see it.
But don't sign any paperwork until you do so.
It could even be a genuine mistake if they are not used to the Gtir.
Or it could be a clever loop hole to get our little beasties in.
As from next year they can be imported into countries so importers might want to get in quick.

The problem is if FNN15xxxx is stampted into the shell; at the very least the firewall has come from an N15 Pulsar... which would make me ask what else did.

.. Or it was changed by some dumbas* ...
does it make sens maybe it's a transaction period (very late 1994 or early 1995) model?

.. and by any chance did you get any info from those guys you asked? cheers :)

I can't check from work (because I can't remember my password), but they seem to think it could be a cut-and-shut. - I still think it's an N15 SR-V (possibly with an engine swap) rather than a GTiR.

It's a lot of work to change something stamped into the firewall... but it's pretty easy to change a VIN plate.

Only problem with my theory is that the SR-V should be HNN15:

no no it's defo an N14 body shape .. i've got an N14 and the interior, outside body etc are the same..

So the conclusion is .. it's a fishy situation thus I won't pay the price of a Gti-R ..
I'll only buy it if I can bet it at a reasonable price bearing in mind that it's still 4WD with an SR20DET engine

Possible that the thing has been cloned and they've bodged the job using the wrong donor car details - just gone for the pulsar name not the right model, possibly to hide a write-off or theft history... Any signs of welds or mysterious use of mastic near the stamp? Somethings moody about its past - so as a wise man once said, know when to walk away and know when to run.

There are no signs of welds or anything and the paint seems old .. so there was some work done this has been done ages ago .. I will try to have a look from the back side (where the wiper mechanics is located) .. I'm trying to get it's history .. hopefully I go back to the day it was imported here or in case of new stamp the first owner with the new stamp ..
The body is in quite good condition with no signs of big accidents .. it still has original bumper add-on at the corners (don't know what they're called) which as far as I know they are quit rear .. The car had no body work done for the past 5 year (even more) for sure since the black spray is fading out and there are some signs of rust
