timing chain question

have a question for you GTi-R Vets.is it normal for the gtir to have a noisy valve train?meaning when its cold it taps and winds,put after like a minute it get quiet.does it mean timing chain and guides need to be replaced or oil isnt getting up there on start up?Help me chaps

it,s normal to certain degree. if the noise is really grinding type and every revolution it could something rubbing and being worn away.
