my time with my 320bhp R is comming to an end...

I NEED MORE POWER:thumbsup:

guess im gonna need a lot of cash:doh:
Quaife, turbo, injectors, forged pistons, rod bolts, bigger brakes

already have exhaust, filter, fuel pump, emanage blue, boost controller, AFR gauge

i recon its gonna cost me about £4-5K:shock:
would be cheaper to buy ready modded car:doh:

do i really need to spend this? for over 400bhp?

4-5k ???

Im sure you will need plenty more than that for a reliable build, the quaiffe alone is about 3k or you going for 2nd hand parts?

Yeah I'd say your right, gonna cost alot more than 5k if you want it reliable. I personally would of thought atleast 5-6k for the new parts alone depending on brakes your looking at, then it comes down to whether or not you are going to do all the fitting!

Obviously second hand brakes and quaife will make things a darn bit cheaper.

Not to forget the fun of getting the car mapped correctly, another chunk of cash for that!

My engine was £5k alone! Then you have brand new TEIN's, 4 pots, 300mm rear disc's, Power FC, straight cut box all on top. I stop counting how much money I have spent years ago!!

any one want to swap a mint 55K miles R for a 400bhp one? lol

its such a barrier over 320BHP for these cars (in cash terms:-D )

think i might have to go for the weight saving route, rip it all out, then take up anorexia (save on parts and food:lol:)

ok, ok
thought of a new plan, fit forged pistons, injectors and rod bolts myself, get a second hand turbo, then only bring in the full force gently and hope the box lasts!

after learning to map of course

Why not just save some cash by not getting the engine done, just do the brakes and a 2nd hand box.

The engine will take a decent ammount more power aslong as its mapped right and with the correct turbo.

Unless of course there is something wrong with your engine. speak to pulsarboby for the 2nd hand bits.

see what you mean, second hand box, brakes and turbo 2.5K?
but pistons will melt soon i recon, unless full boost used carefully!

Aslong as you dont drive like a loon the standard box will take 400bhp if not a bit more.

Just do things in stages rather than in one go, yeah it takes longer but the car will be bigger spec in the end.

Pistons shouldnt melt aslong as fueling is spot on buddy.

Not trying to talk you out of it as its the same thing i want to do, but im going to leave the engine till last.

Not true. People in the States have been running 400hp in SR2o DET with pistons for years, you just need to make sure you have the correct bolt on bits and the fueling is 100% spot on.

Rob ran nearly 400hp on stock internals for ages.

And as for boxes, ask Frank how much power he is running with his stock box. Treat it with respect and it will last

Either that or you can buy my motor at the end of this year once I've finished messing about with it. My box is being rebuilt atm with a new 4th gear from PAR ;-)

the pistons are fine thats what tend to go are the rod bolts also rember you wont be driving with 400bhp all the time with a good boost controller you can get it set up for about 340bhp/400bhp etc ,strd box will be fine as long as you go for the wright clutch dont get a paddle just go for excedy-helix organic etc

I'll be using a standard box, Specs gonna be aimed for power between 350-380bhp

I wont be using my car for launching, so touch wood it'll be ok :)

Although, when money lets me, I will buy a PPG gearset!

not true the standard bottom end will take 450 + easily,
as said above the pistons will be fine for 400 as long as fuelling is spot on and there is no damage to them already;-)
ive been running a standard box on over 400 bhp for a while now including the dragstrip;-)

i've seen a sr20det running 463 bhp on a completley standard 120000mile engine and the car is used for drifting,so if the lump is in good condition don't worry, and as for the gearbox just treat it with respect, ever heard the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"
