Tensioner Check!

:D Hi guy's,if i extract the timingchain tensioner,how do i tell if it's knackard or not :?: And as it's hydraulic,can i clean it and put it back :?:

Hmmm not sure how you'd check it was working really :? says nothing in the manual about it either, suppose the only things you could check would be that the o ring is in good condition aswell as making sure that it spring out on its own and that the ratchet mech is working ok eg once the tensioners extended it can't be pushed back in without releasing the ratchet.
 
Nissan revised the timing chain tensioner when the s14 silvia came out.

The revised part no. is: 13070-2j203

This fixed my rattle on start up to a certain extent i think my chain is stretched aswell so im not worried about it now.
If you search you may find a post by me regarding replacing the tensioner with a link to a page with photos and everything, may have been on the old crashed forum tho??

I recomend everyone change this part tho.
