tapping sound

hey all, Ive recently bought my first gtir and there is a loud tapping noise coming from the engine. a rocker arm had bursted in the past and had put out the clearances so i got them adjusted with shim paper. Any suggestions on what it could be

The gtir engine is pretty noisy anyway mate because of its solid lifters, The injectors are also very noisy as well.

What do you mean by SHIM PAPER ?.

check the cam clearance's mate its easy. should be 0.6 - 0.7 (thou) from cold.

Easy, paper you use as shim. Metal shim is just pushing the boat out a tad too far

If your clearances come out ok, have a look at the rocker pivot points while the rocker cover is off. One of mine came loose causing it to tap louder. Give the rocker a wiggle when its not under load, you'll see the pivot move if its loose.
