suspension setup for track use

right guys i am converting my pulsar to be a track only car. i wanna go as fast as poss lol and have everythin sorted bar the suspension setup on a whole. the car already has a set of jic coilovers but nothing else lol.
i need a comprehensive guide to exactly what i wanna do. first a list of parts i want and then what sort of geometry settings i want. my workplace can do all the setup for me its just they deal with mk1 and mk2 escort setup mostly and have never touched a pulsar lol. also what does corner weighting consist of. what sort of spring rate do i want.
can any1 tell me about the jic coilovers that are on the car, what is adjustable and wether they r any good lol. remember this is a track only car and will not see the road at all, will be trailered to events so comfort etc is not an issue at all.

also i know there is a few brake kits to choose from, i dont really think wilwood and hispec products will be up 2 the job, apart from ap, what other kits will be suitable to fit under 17inch rims which are top quality components ( kad, tarox, alcon?). cheers again.

Why's that? I think they'd be up to the job and a fraction of the cost of the others. I see many race cars with a Willwood setup. No doubt you get what you pay for but alot of the extra is for the branding.

Track Car...Hmmm... what are u doing messing about with 17" rims.:der:
Obviously comfort is not your issue but 17" are too big for the track with an R.
Find a good brake kit that will fit under the smallest rim size, 16" max.
Once you have youe wheels fixed, your suspention setup should be a bit easier!

Out of interest, what've you done with the fuel pump to stop fuel surge on left-handers?

right reason i am using 17ich rims is so that i can get the biggest brakes behind the wheels for a start. also putting 450bhp through smaller wheels will just mean braking traction all the time. with 450hp i feel i need 17s to accomodate real big brakes and to get a good amount of grip and traction. i have used 16s before and they dont really make much difference in my opinion. for a track only car i dont think the wilwoods or hispecs will really stand the test of time stopping a car with so much power and i have expereinced brake fade before in another car and it aint nice when your doin 120mph and your approaching a 60mph corner lol. i would rather spend a bit more money and get brakes i know i can trust. i would maybe consider buyin the 6pot monster hispecs but i couldnt trust the wilwoods. i just need to know about suspension setup really.

I would go with AP 4pot brakes.

You could possibly fit AP 330mms under the right 16" wheel. That should be as much braking as you ever need. 16s also give you a good choice of lightweight wheel.

Im just waiting for somebody to come along and say they wont fit :lol:

If you can justify spending £1500 then its worth going for a set of AP's over wilwood/hi spec etc ;-) The discs on the wilwoods are stupidly thin in my opinion :der:

By opting for 17" rims you are really cutting down on your options for decent track tyres and you'll find it near impossibe to find suitable sized slicks.
I run 17's due to 330mm AP discs and Brembo calipers but this was all bought well before I had any inkling of using my car as a track car and so needin to source decent track rubber.

k cheers for your help guys, i didnt know it was hard to find track rubber, i thought loads of race cars would use 17inch or bigger rims due to the fact they use huge brakes. will consider moving down to 16inch rims as long as i can get decent brakes under them.
