you can get a gtir for 3.5k,why bother?and if your going down the forged and bigger turbo route then 4x4 will take more bhp safely than 2wd

seems a waste, time you spend all the money on ancillarys etc, you could pick up a good rebuilt r with a good spec, for around the £4/5k mark.

well it will be the same insurance as the gtir:doh::lol:
you will have to declare it,or your money which should of been put into a proper r ,
you will lose if anything should happen.

yes declared its still cheaper because of import etc. but i would just like the 2wd just now then 4wd later on. move up slowly instead of jumping straight to the top if ya get me!!

Move up slowly? It's the same power just more dangerous without AWD.

Im sorry but what, to get the power down with 2wd your going to need LSD and on your budget you aint going to able to afford it, not to mention all the cost of fitting it and getting uprated brakes etc. Also, like everyone else says just get a Gti-R, far easier and I would of said cheaper to insure as there are alot of Jap import specialists out there.

Just buy a uk spec gti-r, the insurance is cheaper (with some companys anyway) ;-)

As for the FWD idea....................

ok iam just going to go for a gtir. the engine swap looks a bit too dodgy with things not fitting properly
How ever said things don't fit properly is talking crap.

The full engine is a straight swap & you could pick up everying inc turbo would be about £2k.

At the end of the day it is your choice to be different than havin a rusty GTi-R that keeps breaking down ;)

My mate done it with a micra & then again with an Almera so it isn't to hard.

You can pick up parts cheap enough & the LSD isn't that dear to be honest.

What you will need:

GTi-R Block & Head inc alternator etc
Std Manifold & Turbo & Elbow
GTi-R ECU
The GTi rad should be OK

You can use the GTi-R mongose front pipe but I think it needs to be butchered a bit.

To be honest mate I think the engine conversion is a bit of a waste of time unless you plan on keeping the car for a long time and building it up. The cost of doing the conversion and the difference in insurance premium would counteract one another and you'd definately end up spending more money on the conversion and subsequent running cost then you would if you just bought a Pulsar (The real deal!!!!)

Good luck with it all anyway
