hi guys my fuel tank is leaking, only when i fill it up over half a tank it starts leaking.

I have experience with working on cars, but i have never dropped a tank on a car.

could anyone write me a how to guide, or anyone local in Brighton area, who would be willing to help me?

Thanks jay

I think this might be a pig of a job; the rear sub-frame needs to come out first.

According to the manual:

  1. Release pressure from the fuel lines.
  2. Open the cap in the boot and disconnect the lines.
  3. Remove the prop-shaft and rear sub-frame
  4. Remove the filler.
  5. Remove the protective plate.
  6. Support the tank and take the carrier straps off.
  7. Lower the tank out.

That's far from a "how to" and offers no tips or tricks; with luck someone who knows what they're talking about will offer advice.

Check the filler pipe and clamp first in case that's loose as it goes in from the side rather than the top and could easily be your problem

That's a top tip! - Much easier than getting the whole tank out.

What about checking for perished hoses; can they let the fuel escape?

All the hoses run over the top of the tank bar the filler so no...other than the hassle of dropping the subframe it's not that bad...
