raising profile of our heaps

ive been on the phone today to 'total nissan' or rather they phoned me lol.

anyway after having a lenghy discussion with them with regard to advertising etc blah blah blah!
ive agreed for them to do a centre page spread on gti-r-us a little later in year once our premises have been re-vamped......but there are terms on our part:lol:
that being that they raise the profile of the gtir and give it much more coverage in there mag instead of the skylines, 350z etc which surprisingly they have agreed to:shock:
we were talking about smo's car and the interest that has created alone which even they seemed surprised at.
i went on to say that the R is a very underestimated car thats capable of keeping up with all the big boys in competition as well as on the road and it does have a strong band of followers but if the article space it recieved was extended then that band of followers would grow to a far bigger band lol.

they have been badgering us for over a year now to get an advertising deal going with them but i kept putting them off because at the time we were thinking of also branching out into dealing with skylines but ive now changed my mind as i really dont need the extra work load that goes with it and besides that ive no real love for skybarges.

anyway this may be good news for all that own pulsars because by raising the profile of the car it should also mean that they will become more sought after in which case prices will start to rise again which is good news for every owner i would have thought8):-D

we are now also not breaking nowhere near the amount as we were a year or so ago....if anything we now rebuild them and sell on assuming the base car is all good, indeed the last 3 cars weve had in have now all got or are awaiting new owners.

so there maybe a glimmer of light and hope at the end of a downward spiral over the last few years.
would be great im sure you would all agree if prices rose in line with there ford counterparts, so we will see what happens eh:thumbsup:

Happy days Bobby nice work! I've been having trouble even finding the mag over here locally.

They are such an overlooked car its almost annoying.

Also is Total Nissan doing anything for us (the club) at the JTS show since its our 20th Anniversary???

Don't forget that Andy has them coming to the Rolling Road day at the end of the month on the Wirral!

I like skylines, but they are a different beast; better suited to cruising on motorways (and really good for upsetting the owners of 5L V8s - even my wife used to enjoy letting them pull along side before spooling the turbo and leaving them in the dust). The GTi-R is better for B roads where you're on and off the throttle.

I have no real dislike of the new Z cars... it just seems like that's the only car people think Nissan makes at the moment, and I don't see how any of them are any different from each other.

yep agreed! dont get me wrong im not saying they are a good car either but they are far better than their secondhand price tag deserves.
an escort cossie in my mind is no way worth £10,000 more than a nice minted pulsar, and if anything the pulsar (due to numbers that have been stripped) is now probably a lot rarer than the cossie

ive also stopped breaking as many cars and im trying to rebuild and refresh as many as possible to keep them on the road.

hopefully next year i will be taking part in some sort of race series (limited) and with more and more cars being used in competition its only a matter of time before we get the more publicity.

alot of people still dont even know what a gtir is!!

Total Nissan are a good bunch. I've done a fair bit of advertising with them, but to be honest it made no noticeable difference to trade, but yeah agree with everything you say about the pulsar bob.

likewise martyn....once ive built up the yellow thing i hope to race that next year also, lower power faster spooling setup could possibly reap a little more reliability and make it competetive at club level.
sprints are good but we really need a competetive / reliable circuit car, if someone could possibly get a top 6 finish in either hothatch, barc or lma euro saloons then that would do wonders for the R

ed.....yes its not cheap to advertise with them and like you i dont think there will be much work gained from the costs but if it helps get the cars on the radar then its worth doing....not just from a business point of view but good for the people who love the cars in general i reckon.

im keeping an eye on the AAA saloons series, see how that takes off this session.

yep guess we would be mere pikeys and paupers compared to others lol but thats part of the fun in trying to beat the rich counterparts with endless pits of money and sponsors:lol::lol:

Yeah thats great also... but 20 years of GTiR is a HUGE thing imo.
Don't forget that there'll be at at least three moderators there (fubar andy, Cambellju, and me); I'm sure that we can make a point about it being the 20th anniversary this year. I'll definitely plug the JTS meet (even though it's sponsored by Banzai, they'll almost certainly do a write-up too).

There's 16 or so cars from relatively standard to fairly big power, so the opportunity for quite a few shots (and hopefully a good write-up to go with them)... I don't know about everyone else, but mine is looking a bit ratty at the moment; with luck there will be some pretty ones, and nobody needs to see my arches.

Well done Bob - the R deserves its time in the spotlight. It would be nice for people to realise that they punch way above their weight and should be respected. They really can hold their own against some of the more commanding cars 20 years their junior. That is an achievement in itself!

I'm fed up of people laughing at my pulsar lol, i'm forever having to proove it by overtaking the cnuts and popping flames out the back as i fly past :)
Hope it all goes well with the mag.... be good to get people more educated.

il go back to total nissan and see what kind of deal they come up with, at end of the day they are just sales people and will probably tell you what you want to hear to get the advertising (thats just business though)
we will see whether they honour what they have suggested with extra R coverage!

They probably agreed to it so readily because they knew they were already going to put something in about Andy's rolling road day... cheeky when you think about it.

Am I the only one that like driving an under dog. It make the victories that much sweeter!

I love no one knowing what my car is, for me its all part of the appeal over a scooby or evo.
