Possible alternator???

When I start my R, be it hot or cold start, the car does not run right. The dash and headlights are very dimmed and after a few minutes driving the ABS light will come on and the stereo will cut out. The other night I parked up at my mates house and let it idle to see what exactly happens if I leave it... The car finnaly cut out and would no re-start and the battery was dead.

All of this can be stopped by simply reving the engine just over 3k revs.

Does this sound like the alternator???

Sounds Likely, try and get a volt meter on to the battery terminals and check the voltage it is making when running, then turn everything on like lights, heater, rear demister etc, and see if it drops by much. Should really be around 13 or 14 volts between idle and reving it up, not much lower even with everything on.

Now fixed! There is two pin plug which goes into the alternator and this had somehow come out :?

Car is running sweet and all is good... untill the next thing goes wrong.
