poor running

Just installed turbo on my mates r it is a standard unit but the car previously had a uprated turbo on.there is a slight leak from the oil return pipe and the car wont boost and chucks out loads of black smoke. Im thinking maybe it needs fueling etc setting back maybe a remap we dont know if the car was mapped for the uprated turbo or not am i on the right lines or would the slight leak effect the running that much. Also on idle revs drop like its goin to cut out and when driving and comign to a stop it soemtimes cuts out

try cleaning the afm with brake cleaner spray or try another afm

is the oil restrictor still in place, ?
for standard unit you don't need it.

Some people fit restrictors(usually in a banjo bolt on the oil feed) to GT series turbos, some say you don't need them.Its very confusing.

that explains it a bit better, well tis has a leak from the oil return pipe would that cause this poor running though
