Wondering
a part from Gearbox
Rally Spec DO HAVE different cam spec ?

i opened a R head today
realise the block no have stamped with an R wording on end of the engine no.
out of 10 Engine i have , only this Engine have R stamped on it after the engine no
on RB26DETT, an R stamp after the engine no mean N1 Spec

it ok no issue.. then we proceed to dismantle the head.
53J stamped on the cam but visibility you can see the cam is different from OEM cam

so decide to dismantle the cam
and put side by side on a pair of OEM cam and HKS cam
From normal sight,
you can see the cam lobe duration is higher than OEM cam..
almost same with my HKS 256/264 cam lift
even i ask other people to see without telling what it that
they can tell the this cam lobe is slightly higher than the OEM

wondering only.
rally spec cam is higher lift than normal ?
or nissan motorsport division have special cam for rally spec ?
or nismo got make cam for GTIR ?but do it still stamped 53J ?


weird.. i really no idea
going to dismantle the internal next week to see what inside

Could they be regrinds?
I dont know much about cams but that would be a possibility??

Never seen any mention of a n1 spec gtir engine but i guess it could be.

Sounds pretty rare if thats the case. Did you mean the head or the block have the extra R on it.

If so is the block like thicker or anything different to the other rnn14's you have? I wouldnt be suprised if it is n1 spec there are more differences than just cams.

it just surprise since it is stamped R on the after the engine block no
so decide to open it up and have a look

From info i get regarding on RB26DETT N1 spec
N1 spec, the water hole bigger than normal spec RB26DETT
plus oil pump so other

no idea on RNN14
i think i need to open the whole block to compare

GtiR magnet ? no le just
i know how to check and look for GTiR part nowday
so easy to spot.
RNN14 is not popular here due to spare part issue
