the r is ready for its oil change,ive alwayz used siloklene 10w50,but cant be botherd orderin it and waitin,my local motor factor sells mobil 1 15w50 is that ok to use on the r?

It's OK but, not as good as the Silkolene, imho ! I used to use it in my R, then changed to the Motul equivalent and now use the Silkolene stuff, as I have for the past few years. The Silkolene helps the engine be noticably quieter and smoother.

The Mobil 1 also has a higher cold viscosity (15w as opposed to 10w for the Silkolene) so, doesn't flow as well when cold. This could cause more engine wear when using the engine from cold !

Aye, I wouldn't suggest using a 15W40 oil in the UK if you do many short journeys - will be a bit too thick I'd have thought.
