Hi, i need a new car for work, i need something not OTT thats looks smart when i arrive at a clients house. I have a budget of £12k max, any reasonable suggestions welcomed.

Volvo S60 D5 mate. Absolute quality cars, get a decent spec one with leather etc, good 45mpg cruising at a nice mph on motorway. I just bought one as my motorway cruiser and its a lovely car to drive. Gives the right impression as well.
