Mongoose- which is louder?????????

I know this has been touched on before but wanted to get a definitive answer for myself and future searchers.

All based on turbo back versions of the goose with cat removed.

Which 1 is louder?????

5 inch is definitely louder, I know cos I bought it with the 5" tail pipe and it was too loud for work commute.

I've currently got the 3.5" fitted, gonna keep the 5" for events though

People have always said mine was louder with my 4.5" custom tail pipe even with the mongoose silencers.

This was before the 5" was out. So i would guess that 5" is louder unless there is some sort of silencing in the rear tail section of the 5"

Thanks for all the votes/replies-I bought the 5" tailpipe yesterday and had it fitted today and it is definetly louder! The tailpipe seems to amplify the sound -like if you spoke into a megaphone. Whereas the 3.5 seems to almost act like a silencer!!!


It's amazing what an extra 1 1/2 inches does (well thats what me missus says anyway!)
