just looking for a cheap manual controller like dawes device until i get the money and power for an electronic one.

I've got a 'relief valve' I used on my Celica you can have for £10 plus the shipping !

This will do a better job than a bleed valve as, it stays closed until the preset boost limit is reached. That reduces spool time.

I'm pretty sure the Dawes Devices do the same thing but, in a more complicated and expensive way !
