leeds to stockholm in my pulsar (pics)

As you guys are talking about the trip to gotland, this is the route that i did up towards stockholm

Set off from leeds-dover.
Ferry from dover to calais
Calais towards belgium, then on to holland.
Then hit the german boader and the autobahn...... ): fun times!!!
Then didnt take too long to get up towards denmark, then ferry across to denmark, then the biggest bridge in europe to cross in to sweden..

600km north you then hit stockholm (home)

did this back in june i think with nice weather and late days.. took me 22hours to drive as i was going steady. but has been done in 17-18.

now at dover ferry

to france

Arrive in france

tunnel in holland somewhere

Yeh it was my car sat in knaresborough at s,n,h recovery for about 2 months, theni came back from sweden to collect it..

You should have gone via hull why go all the way to Dover when i lived i Scotland i took my brother to hull as he was going back to Germany.

I'm looking to drive to Lapland at Christmas time, should I be following your route?
I appreciate that whatever way I go I'll need to drive North through Norway or Sweden to get to Finland, but it's whether I should be getting on a ferry from Dover... or Hull as Geoff suggests... and should I head straight for Norway, or stick on land as far as possible.
About 22 hours to Stockholm - so I should call that two days driving?

22 hours i that was me sat at 60mph all the way to save fuel.. you could do it in less say 16-18 no probs i did stockholm to barcelona in 16 hours in a new golf r32, and that was a quick time,

i would surggest looking for a ferry from newcastle to norway and then drive up that way..


Also fuel prices have just come down in sweden they are less than a £1 a litre...

Nice Route, I took the easier, cheaper, but longer way when I went last year to race in Sweden. Hull-Gothenburg on frieght ferry (25 Hours).

DSDF Torline - its a frieght only ferry, and the ferry can take 365 lorries, but only ~12-15 drivers. Most of it fills with just lorry trailers.

Its a bit rough and ready, basic cabin, no entertainment bar sky TV in drivers lounge, no real choice of food but meals included, unlimited tea/coffe etc - just dont expect a casino etc like you get on Hull-Rotterdam non-frieght crossings

Hi, it is funn to drive through eurpoe. Wouldn't it easyer to drive from newcatle to göteburg and from there 50 miles to stockholm? i drove from estonia to edinburg and back,tons of funn

I have some unfinished business with him since the Christmas of 1999 - it seems that he can't follow instructions so it's pay-back time! ;-)

No, I have friends going there from Australia. It just seems a lot less hassle to attempt the drive than to get flights. - Getting to Sweden or Finland is easy enough, but getting from somewhere like Helsinki to Levi (Kittila airport) seems excessively painful... if other people can make the drive, why can't I? Plus a car has the advantage of having far more luggage allowance than a suitcase, so I can take extra warm clothes.

I'm not sure that I'm not more than a little insane, but nobody has tried to discourage me yet... and it's the kind of thing you see on Top Gear, so I figure if they can do it, so can I!

Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack the thread, I'm genuinely interested in how it went and picking up tips for the unwary. It's all good advice!

Go for it! The reason the car is better than by plain is- tons of space between the villages geting arund is pain in the bollocks there but sice you have a car, you can exlpore. Or you could take a ferry from gemany to helsinki and put it on a train and train will take you and a car to levi in comfort. DON'T FORGET WINTER TIRES!
