leaking gear box

i have just brought a 1990 pulsar and the gearbox is leaking from the rear where the propshaft goes in anyone had this problem and is it easy to fix

mine's doing the same :( , I just keep topping it up as it's a slow leak, but you get oil on the tail gate when you realy thrash it.


Mike is it likely to be the O ring or the bigger flat (ish) seal and is it any more dificult than unbolting the propshaft and taking the end of the transfer box off?

pretty sure from memory it a dynamic seal
just remove the prop from flange and use a nut gun on the large nut in flange and hey presto

if its that easy ill have a go my self i reckon, also how often is the diff oil change

Make sure its not coming from the gear selector bit, as this is also just a seal.

Yeah and remember to mark the nutz position first so when you do it back up it is back where it was cos you may fudge up the pre-load on the pinnion flange position, bit like my MK1 Escort rear diff, same principle. :lol:
