Hello all,

I need an ecu for my sunny, its a UK spec. I was looking for a uk ecu but would an import one work ok?
Whats difference between them if any?

im 99% sure they are the same
the only one which had a slightly different map was the rb model ecu! that had to be different due to the gear ratios in the rb box

Aren't the JDM ones mapped for 98 octane fuel, and the UK ones for 95?
Or do the JDM cars just output more power because of the fuel, but run the same map as the EDM ones?

dont know trond tbh
i was talking to a tuner type fella though and he reckoned there was no difference in the map, they both are inclined to run rich at topend and think timing is set at 18btdc on both aswell which will be a safe setting.

I guess it wouldn't make much difference on a standard car then, with regards to detonation and whatnot - especially with it running rich at the top end.

UK ecu....... 23710-69c00

Jap ecu, RA....23710-54c00
............. RB....23710-54c60

So there is a difference in the parts.
I believe that they will both work and are interchangeable, but the maps are slightly different due to the timing; the Sunny has always been quoted as a lower power (in official literature) than the Pulsar because of that.

As Bobby says, the base timing is set the same so it makes sense the Ignition map is different to benefit from the higher octane fuel in JDM.

Thinking more widely, the speed limt is an ECU controlled function so the UK ECU will have this removed. Probably other things too, Ed might pass through shortly and explain all the mysteries.

Ed, just thought, if you do, can you post up the standard ECU's ignition map as I wonder how that compares to the PFC? I found recently that has a few different "defaults" depending on what datalogit software you use.

Is ? that to help with cooling when on full boost .
I don't understand the meaning of this sentence, sorry. :)

However, I should correct myself; the risk of blowing up is low when running the "wrong" ECU. It would definately make a difference to top speed at least. :D

Jap one will have the aircon bit in the ecu, UK one won't. (kills aircon under full throttle I believe)

Is that the main difference between the RA and RB ecus then? The lack of support for the aircon? I've not seen an RB ecu; is it missing the AC sticker on it?

No AC sticker on the RB ecu.
I don't know if it's the main, only or one of many differences to be honest. Given that all RBs are jap, I'd say the ignition timing could be abit different for their fuel too.

i have looked at both maps and the UK map runs a lot less timing (in some places 8 degrees less) to avoid knock, also the fuel map is slightly richer again I guess to avoid knock

steve - i'd very much like to add the factory sunny ecu bin file to my collection (been asking around for a while now) if you could email it to shalom @ gtiroz.net that would be super :)

stumo - where'd you get that 23710-69C00 part number? might be blind, but i can't find it in fast - only 23710-69C05 (a pic would also be great to add to the gallery below if anyone has access to one)

cheers,
shalom
